We are thrilled to share the remarkable journey of Simran Goundalkar, a talented young athlete hailing from Belagavi, as she sets her sights on the para swimming world series event in Italy. Simran, a proud member of both the Swimmers’ Club and Aquarius Swim Club, has been selected as one of the eight champions from India to participate in this prestigious event taking place in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Udine on March 9.

Simran Goundalkar will be showcasing her exceptional skills in the DWARF category, competing in four challenging events: the 50-meter freestyle, 50-meter butterfly, 100-meter breaststroke, and 100-meter backstroke. Her journey in para swimming has already been adorned with three international medals and an impressive tally of over 20 national medals. As a distinguished KHELO INDIA fellow, Simran’s achievements serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes across the nation.

Having trained at esteemed sports complexes, including the Sports Authority of India’s facility in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat, and the Suvarna JNMC swimming pool in Belagavi, Simran has received guidance and support from a team of exceptional coaches. Umesh Kalghatgi, Akshay Sheregar, Ajinkya Mendke, Nitish Kuduchkar, and Govardhan Kakatkar have played a pivotal role in shaping Simran’s skills and honing her talent. Additionally, Harpreet Kaur, her sports medicine therapist, has provided invaluable support in maintaining her physical well-being.

Despite her demanding training schedule and remarkable accomplishments, Simran remains dedicated to her education. Currently pursuing her BCom degree at KLE’s Lingaraj College, she exemplifies the perfect balance between academics and sports. Simran’s unwavering determination and passion for para swimming have propelled her to new heights, inspiring others with her remarkable achievements.
